The Argonauts Soul Searching Adventure

Our Mission
To entertain and inspire

Be the change you want to see in the world ~ Mahatma Gandhi

the argonauts 10 year anniversaryYou could say this was my personal mission statement before I ever heard it. While I was cycling across the country, my "crazy" journey put an amazing sparkle of curiousity and wonder into people's eyes. So before I embarked on my personal quest around the world on a bicycle, I figured why should I be the only one to share my adventure, so I founded The Argonauts, Inc.:

An adventure-travel community dedicated to inspiring the human spirit by enabling people to venture into the unknown and sharing their dreams and discoveries with the world.

the argonauts 10 year anniversaryThat was our idealistic mission statement when theArgonauts first came online in 1999. (During the California gold rush in 1849, the miners were nicknamed argonauts; and, coincidently during California's second gold rush, the dotcom boom, The Argonauts Inc. was born in San Francisco exactly 150 years later.) Our vision was to give adventurers a forum to share their photos, maps and stories. However, we were over-ambitious and ahead of our time. Blogs didn’t even exist, and the programming required to match our vision would have cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, and an extraordinary amount of work. Still the founding members of theArgonauts archived an impressive number of stories.

Though we don't have many resources we still like to dedicate inspirational blurbs about our fellow adventurers. Share Your Story. Visit our Featured Argonauts for some examples.

Thank you for supporting y/our dreams,
Scott and the team of volunteers at The Argonauts.

Awards

Our site even won a handful of awards, that don't even exist anymore, such as a Golden Web Award, the Cool Site of the Day; we were even the Barnes & Noble Affliate of the month, and now they won't even put my book on the shelf.... Oh! The irony is painful.....
