Job opportunity — marketer/publicist

Volunteers are welcome. Of course :) However, I am looking for a professional part time publicist.

Since passion often trumps logic, I'm seeking a publicist who is inspired by my book “Falling Uphill” about my spiritual quest around the world on a bicycle. The publicist should feel passionately connected to the message of making “impossible” dreams possible.

Before you go much further, please visit my site below to get a first impression. I have spent over 10 years working on this project.

In short, I need a publicist to tap into the media giants to push and pull “Falling Uphill” into mass consciousness as I attempt my publicity stunt of bicycling down the Atlantic Coast. I estimate this second leg of the book tour will be 5 months long. I’ve already been promoting my book for 8 months and have had a lot of success in small circles; therefore, with the proper national exposure, “Falling Uphill” could go viral.

The longer version:

This is a paying position, but preferably I would like form a partnership with someone interested in co-creating their own job in a field they find passionate and fulfilling. (As a side note, I personally believe that our economy and cultural morals are heading in a direction where the majority of people will essentially be entrepreneurs teamed up with other entrepreneurs.)

Do you have the passion and tools required to create a position as a marketer and publicist to help the Falling Uphill book tour reach critical mass? Are you ready to co-create an expanding stream of income helping share an exciting story and important message? If so is this you:

1) I have already created the product, so it is mandatory that potential candidates must feel passionate about the existing product and message. To see if our passions are in alignment, please explore the following pages and related links about the book and book tour:

2) The ideal candidate must be a self-motivated person with the skill to create and fulfill an action plan without supervision. And it would be great if you had experience promoting books, and even bicycles, adventure-travel and self-improvement. It is important to understand that I don’t have the experience or time to be a marketer or publicist, so if the other person involved does not have the passion or skill, this project will fail for everyone involved.

2) The marketer or publicist should be able to contribute their ideas and passion to refine the existing structure.

3) Some of the primary goals or job requirements as I currently understand them, is for the marketer / publicist to basically be the social networking guru that has the experience and contacts to reach the right people at the right time. Goals would include: contacting national media, and both traditionally and more creatively (such as organizing a group of people to petition the Oprah Show); contacting the local media several weeks before I arrive to arrange interviews, book signings and speaking engagements; contacting potential sponsors to help with the finances or administration of the tour (such as equipment manufacturers and self-fulfillment organizations); and contacting potential agents and publishers that may have the resources to launch “Falling Uphill” to the entire nation at the same time.

4) My financial resources are limited at the moment, but the idea is that we are creating our own jobs. And I believe everyone should be compensated for their efforts -- starting with the joy of participation and including financially. I would request that we co-create a structure for your efforts that results in a tangible increase in books sales, which we can link to your pay scale. I have established a baseline of sales and web analytics, so anything above this would be a direct result of your efforts. My business philosophy is that to create a self-sustaining business in which every participant should generate a minimum of 3 times their wages. Once for the past infrastructure and debt. Second for the present cost of doing business. And third for the expansion into the future. As long as this formula is met, the business will be either self-sustaining or expanding, and we’ll all have joyful jobs.

Contact me with your ideas for a mutually beneficial participation and let's go from there.

Regards,
Scott
